Shaw Leaves Game After Hit By Baseball

ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw was forced to leave Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after being hit on the head by a throw from catcher Jesus Sucre while trying to steal second base in the second inning.

Shaw reached on a base hit to start the inning off Rays starter Alex Cobb, but while on his attempt to steal second base, the throw through by Sucre sailed into his path, hitting him behind the left ear.

The 27-year-old was down on the field for a couple of minutes before eventually walking slowly off the field under his own power, replaced by Hernan Perez.

The team announced he was diagnosed with a neck contusion.
