The Tampa Bay Rays rallied from a 4-3 deficit with two out in the ninth inning, as Kevin Kiermaier's sixth homer of the year tied the game, and Logan Morrison and Derek Norris each homered in the tenth to give the Rays a 7-5 victory over the Texas Rangers Wednesday at Globe Life Park.
Kiermaier came up with two out in the top of the ninth against rangers closer Matt Bush when he got a hold of a fastball and sent it out to right-centerfield to tie the game at 4-4.
After Austin Pruitt worked a second scoreless inning in relief of starter Chris Archer, Tampa Bay jumped on Sam Dyson in the top of the tenth, as Logan Morrison led off with his team-leading 15th homer of the year, and with two out and Tim Beckham on first base after a Pete Kozma error, Derek Norris added insurance with his fifth home run of 2017 for a 7-4 advantage.
Archer allowed a run in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by Adrian Beltre, but the Rays rallied to take the lead in the top of the second, as Logan Morrison singled to right and Steven Souza Jr. followed with a 455-foot blast to left, his tenth on the year, for a 2-1 lead.
Evan Longoria added a third run in the third, as his RBI single plated Corey Dickerson for a two-run lead.
Archer single runs in both the fourth and fifth to allow Texas to tie the game, and the Rangers ended up breaking the tie off the right-hander in the seventh. Mike Napoli doubled to start the inning, and after a groundout by Jared Hoying allowed pinch-runner Kozma to take third, and Shin-Soo Choo's ground ball erased Kozma at the plate. But Choo made up for the grounder by stealing second base himself and scoring on an RBI double by Andrus.
Pruitt earned his fourth win of the year with his two scoreless innings of relief, and Alex Colome picked up his 15th save despite allowing an RBI single by Beltre.
