Andriese Heads To DL, Three Called Up From AAA

A day after leaving in the second inning with a mild groin strain, the Tampa Bay Rays have placed starting pitcher Matt Andriese on the 10-day disabled list with the injury, and recalled reliever Ryan Garton from the Durham Bulls.

Andriese is 5-1 on the season with a 3.45 earned run average in 11 starts this season.

This will be Garton's third stint with the big club this year.  He is 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA and a pair of saves with the Bulls, but that success has not carried over the the big-league level, where he is 0-1 with a 14.33 ERA in four appearances.

In addition, the Rays optioned Chih-Wei Hu to Durham and Hunter Wood to Double-A Montgomery.  Both worked in Tuesday night's loss to the Rangers, with Wood making his Major League debut.  To take their spots on the roster, reliever Austin Pruitt and outfielder Mallex Smith were recalled from Durham.
