The Florida Gators introduced Billy Napier in Gainesville on Sunday, hired to replace Dan Mullen. Napier had been serving as the head coach at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette since 2017, and coached the Raging Cajuns to a Sun Belt championship win on Saturday over Appalachian State.
The Gators also learned on Sunday they will head to the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, and will play the in-state rival UCF Knights. Napier is not expected to coach the bowl game. For the Gators, it will be their second game in Tampa this season after they defeated USF 44-20 at Raymond James Stadium in week two of the season.
The Gasparilla Bowl will be hosted at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday, December 23rd. Kickoff will be 7:00 PM and the game will be televised on ABC.
