The LSU Tigers (4-3, 2-2) defeated the Florida Gators (4-3, 2-3) 49-42 on Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge.
LSU took a 28-13 lead early in the third quarter when Emory Jones threw his second interception, this one returned for a touchdown. The Gators then went to Anthony Richardson, who nearly orchestrated a marvelous comeback for the Gators.
He led the Gators to tie the game 35-35 late in the third quarter. After LSU scored a touchdown in the fourth, Florida answered again to tie the game 42-42 with 9:14 to go. LSU would eventually get the win when Max Johnson hit Jaray Jenkins for a one-yard touchdown to give LSU a 49-42 lead, which would prove to be the final
Richardson finished the game 10-for-19 with 167 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Emory Jones, who started the game, saw his final line stand at 12-for-19 with 161 yards passing, one touchdown and two interceptions. Justin Shorter had a game for the Gators, pulling in 113 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
The Gators are now off next weekend before a huge showdown with #1 Georgia in Gainesville on October 30th.
