The Gators (4-0) began the Phil Knight Invitational with a convincing 108-87 win over Stanford (3-3) on Thanksgiving night in Portland, Oregon.
Battling the first game of the PK80 - the tournament designed to celebrate Nike founder Phil Knight's 80th birthday - the seventh ranked Gators blew out to an impressive lead in this one, taking a 58-39 lead at halftime. The Gators began the game with a 16-4 run and took control late in the first half, never looking back in the second en route to the win.
Florida was led by 26 points from Egor Koulechov, and had five players score in double figures, including Chris Chiozza chipping in a double double with 14 points and 11 assists. Stanford was led by 23 points from Reid Travis - Robert Cartwright came off the bench to contribute 17 poitns in the losing effort.
The Gators run through the PK80 continues on Friday night into Saturday morning from Portland when they battle 17th ranked Gonzaga. Tipoff is set for 12 AM ET and can be heard in Tampa Bay on 620 WDAE and 95.3 FM.
