Gators Knock Off Texas A&M For Sixth Straight Win

The 17th ranked Florida Gators (20-5, 10-2) overcame a slow start to knock off Texas A&M (13-11, 5-7) 71-62 on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville.

Texas A&M was looking for their first win against a ranked opponent in five tries this season and for much of this game it looked as though they may pull off the feat.  They trailed Florida 29-27 at halftime and took a 42-41 lead midway through the second half.  However, Florida went on a 24-10 run that started and ended with three-pointers from Justin Leon, who finished with eighteen points.  From there Florida held on to the secure to win, thanks in part to Texas A&M shooting just 4-of-18 from long distance and turning the ball over 20 times.

In addition to Leon's 18 points, Florida got 12 points from Canyon Barry and 11 points each form John Egbunu and Chris Chiozza.  The Aggies were led by 18 points from Robert Williams - Tyler Davis and Admon Gilder each added a dozen in the losing cause.

Florida is next in action on Valentine's Day when they travel to Auburn.  Tipoff between the Gators and Tigers is set for 7 PM Tuesday night and can be heard beginning at 6:25 PM on 620 WDAE and 95.3 FM.
