Delray Beach, FL - Four Delray Beach firefighters have been placed on administrative leave following their involvement in a train crash in late December.
The crash occurred on Saturday, December when a fire truck responding to an emergency call collided with a passing train.
Authorities say 15 injuries were reported, including 3 firefighters and 12 members of the public.
The collision resulted in significant damage to the fire truck and disrupted train services for several hours.
The City of Delray Beach Fire Rescue has confirmed that the four firefighters have been placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation unfolds.
In a Facebook post, Delray Beach Fire Chief Ronald Martin announced the administrative leave, while assuring the public that they are conducting a thorough review of the incident and any associated violations of department protocols.
This train collision has raised concerns within the community, with some questioning whether the department is doing enough to ensure accountability among its personnel.
The investigation will determine whether any additional disciplinary actions or changes in department policies are necessary.
