Miami Springs, FL - The Miami Springs Police Department is actively searching for a man who attempted to sexually assault a store clerk but was driven off when the brave clerk fought back with a toilet plunger.

The attack occurred late Saturday, November 9th, at a store in the 10 block of Canal Street, just before closing time.

The suspect, described as a man in his 30s to 40s with a thin athletic build and a goatee, had made a purchase earlier that evening but returned minutes before the store closed.

After entering the store again, the man repeatedly asked the female clerk for marijuana, despite being informed the store did not sell such products.

When offered alternative items, the suspect escalated the situation by forcibly dragging the clerk into the store’s back storage room.

Once inside, the man attempted to subdue the clerk by covering her face with a shirt, groping her, and pushing her to the ground in an effort to remove her pants.

The clerk grabbed a nearby toilet plunger and used it to strike the attacker multiple times, forcing him to flee the scene.

Her improvised weapon likely prevented the assault from escalating further.

Miami Springs Police are urging the public to help identify the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 305-888-9711.

Authorities describe the man as having a thin athletic build, a goatee, and being in his 30s to 40s.
