Police in Port St. Lucie have a man in custody on child porn charges, but the arrest took three hours.
Officers arrived at his home on Southwest Watson Court on Thursday afternoon, with an arrest warrant and a search warrant. But when they knocked on the door, officials say 35-year old Joshua Valdes refused to cooperate and barricaded himself inside.
"We finally were left with no option but to make entry. SWAT team made entry and located him in the front bedroom, hiding under a mattress."
Assistant Police Chief Leo Niemczyk tells CBS 12 News the response was complete with the SWAT team's armored vehicle, canines, including a robot dog and drones.
Valdes, who has an extensive criminal history, is charged with 17 counts of child porn possession and could get life in prison.
