Stone Island, FL - An 11-foot alligator was euthanized on Wednesday after the reptile broke thru a Florida home's patio screens and entered the residence's pool
Homeowner Lynn Tosi was taken aback when the large alligator found its way into her pool, leaving ripped patio screens and flattened bushes in its wake.
Tosi tells WKMG she's grateful that her dogs were not present and that her daughter was not sitting outside at the time, telling the news outlet "I opened up the backdoor here to go ahead and let the dog out and luckily I looked up and there was this rather large gator in my pool.”
Tosi said she and her husband called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) who came out and trapped the alligator.
FWC said because it was a nuisance gator, it was euthanized.
The FWC says this is the time of year when alligators are most active and aggressive.
