Suspect in Florida Deputy's DUI Death Denied Bond

PUNTA GORDA -- A driver accused of DUI Manslaughter in the death of a sheriff's deputy, won't be bonding out of jail.

A judge in Charlotte County denied bond for Cassandra Smith, saying she posed a danger to society. She's accused of DUI manslaughter in the death of 23-year-old deputy Christopher Taylor on I-75 Tuesday night. Sheriff Bill Prummell says Taylor's death is a great loss.

FHP says the 30 year old Massachusetts woman was driving on a suspended license and had just completed probation in August for another DUI incident. State troopers will investigate the crash.
