Group Alleges Harassment By Group Linked To Seminole Tribe

A group collecting signatures for a constitutional amendment on sports betting is alleging harassment by a group linked to the Seminole Tribe.

Senator Jeff Brandes, the lone holdout when the Seminole Gaming Compact was ratified by the Senate, says the alleged activities are supported by affidavits from petition gatherers.

Brandes is calling for an investigation to look into the claims and thinks Florida is better off with competition for sports betting as opposed to granting the Seminole Tribe what he says amounts to a 30 year monopoly.

He feels the Tribe is now doing everything it can to defend its position.

A spokesperson says the Tribe isn't named as a defendant in the lawsuit and referred questions to Rick Asnani, Chairperson for Standing Up for Florida. A hearing is set for Friday morning.
