"Alyssa's Law" Goes Before House Education Subcommittee In Tallahassee

Hopes are high the 2nd time's a charm for "Alyssa's Law" in the Florida Legislature. A House education subcommittee is debating the law named in honor of Parkland victim Alyssa Alhadeff. Her mom Lori, a Broward School Board Member, is urging lawmakers to pass the measure requiring each school building be equipped with at least one panic alarm that can be triggered during a mass shooting. She says this is a no brainer because time of the essence. A gunshot victim can literally bleed to death in five minutes or less. The measure did not pass the Legislature last year, but it did not have a sponsor in the House. This year it does. It's already on the books in New Jersey.
