School Starts In Miami-Dade This Morning

Big yellow buses are rolling in Miami-Dade signaling the start of school in the nation's 4th largest school district. Academics are important, but Superintendent Alberto Carvalho says there's nothing more important than protecting the kids. He has created a new department of mental health services to provide safe spaces for kids feeling depressed, overwhelmed or anxious. There they can vent and also be connected with the appropriate resources to get further help. Miam-Dade has a police officer patrolling every school as is required by state law post Parkland. A police command center so officers can monitor activity in and around every school 24/7 to ensure safety.
