Miami Beach Ready For Parties, Traffic & Crowds This Memorial Day Weekend

Miami Beach preparing for an influx of crowds and traffic this Memorial Day. They are doing all they can to ensure the parties don't get out of control like they did over Spring Break. Police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez says all 407 Miami Beach officers are working 13-hour shifts with help from other municipalities. The city is also cracking down on excessive parties with new restrictions passed after spring break to keep promoters from holding unauthorized events and upping penalties for clubs allowing people younger than 21 in. Prepare for a sea of red lights if you are driving into South Beach this weekend. Thousands of people are in town for Urban Beach Week and The Air and Sea Show on top of the normal congestion thanks to on-going construction on the MacArthur Causeway. Miami Beach Police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez says they are also running their license-plate readers program which runs the tag of every car that comes through to nab anyone with an outstanding warrant. Ocean Drive in the entertainment district will only be open for pedestrian traffic today through 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
