Quarterback Controversy? Tampa Bay Vipers Lose First Ever Home Game

The Tampa Bay Vipers (0-3) fell the the Houston Roughnecks (3-0) 34-27 in the first ever home Vipers game.

The storyline in this game was the play of the quarterback - after two series the Vipers crowd at Raymond James Stadium turned on quarterback Taylor Cornelius as they began chanting for USF product Quinton Flowers. Even after Flowers came into the game, he was removed again by head Vipers coach Marc Tresman and Cornelius was able to finish the game, which saw the Roughnecks come out on top. The game would be won by Houston after they were unable to convert on a 4th down in the red zone that could have given the Vipers the lead.

Quarterback Quinton Flowers was made available to the media after the game, as was Taylor Cornelius, and both took the hard questions on the chin. Also, Marc Tresman was asked specifically about the quarterback controversy. Watch Flowers and Tresman below.

Even Houston Roughnecks head coach June Jones, and quarterback P.J. Walker, expressed surprised that Quinton Flowers didn't come into the game down the stretch run.

So who will be the quarterback for the Vipers when they take the field next? The Vipers return to action when they host the DC Defenders on Sunday, March 1st. Kickoff i s scheduled for 7 PM from Raymond James Stadium.
