#10 Alabama Edges Out USF

The 10th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (2-1) held on to beat USF (1-2) 17-3 on Saturday afternoon at Ramyond James Stadium.

The Crimson Tide came into this game as heavy favorites, but USF kept the game close throughout. USF kicked a 44-yard field goal in the first quarter to take an early 3-0 lead. Alabama kicked a 30-yard field goal late in the second quarter to tie the game 3-3, which would be the score heading into halftime.

Roydell Williams ran in a touchdown with 4:35 to go in the third quarter to take a 10-3 lead, which would prove to be the difference. USF threatened in the fourth quarter, but Alabama put together a long drive that clinched the game when Ty Simpson ran in a touchdown to make it a 17-3 final score.

Byrum Brown went 14-for-28 with 87 yards in the air with no touchdowns and one interception - he added another 92 yards on the ground.

The USF Bulls return to action when they host Rice next Saturday afternoon. Kickoff in that game is scheduled for 4:00 PM at Raymond James Stadium.
