The USF Bulls (10-21, 3-15) knocked off SMU (16-15, 6-12) 65-54 to wrap up the regular season on a two game winning streak.
The Bulls trailed 27-22 at halftime but began the second half on a 16-4 run. They also had an 11-4 run later in the frame that ensured SMU would not be able to fight back, and leave USF with a good taste in their mouth going into the AAC Tournament. Though South Florida had struggled much of the season, the win ensures double digit wins (ten) and gives USF momentum going into next season.
David Collins had 21 points to lead USF, while Malik Martin added 15 and Stephan Jiggets scored 14. The Bulls also got a monster game from Terrance Samuel, who only scored four points but grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out five assists to help USF win the battle of the boards 40-34.
The Bulls now advance to the AAC Tournament as the #12 seed. Play will begin on Thursday afternoon in Orlando.
