The USF Bulls (8-17, 1-11) fell to UConn (12-12, 5-6) on Wednesday night in Storrs, Connecticut.
UConn led this game at halftime, taking a 35-23 lead, but saw the lead dwindle when USF when on a 9-0 run in the second half to cut the lead to 35-32. Connecticut went up by eight with just over two minutes to go in the game, but the Bulls made a final run. Isaiah Manderson cut the Huskies lead to two when he nailed a layup with 38 seconds to go. After Connecticut hit only one of two free throws, David Collins had a last look to try and send the game into overtime, but David Collins shot missed the mark at the buzzer.
Stephan Jiggets led USF with 18 points, while Isaiah Manderson had 15 points and eight rebounds in the losing effort. Connecticut was led by 19 points by Jalen Adams, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
USF returns to Tampa to host Temple on Saturday. Tipoff from the Sun Dome is set for 12 PM on Saturday afternoon.
