The 8th-ranked Florida State Seminoles (3-1, 0-1) fell to Virginia (4-1, 2-0) 46-38 in two overtimes on Friday night in Charlottesville, Virginia. It was Virginia's first home win over a top-ten team since 2005.
Virginia took a 14-0 lead before Florida State answered with three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 21-14 lead. Virginia scored again before halftime to go into the half tied 21-21. The second half was back and forth as well before regulation ended tied 35-35.
After both teams traded field goals in the first overtime. In the second overtime, Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to take the lead - he finished the game with three rushing touchdowns. He also went 26-for-25 with 229 yards in the air and two passing touchdowns. Moments after his score, Tommy Castellanos threw an interception and Virginia fans celebrated the upset win.
The Florida State Seminoles look to bounce back when they host #2 Miami on October 4th. Kickoff from Tallahassee is scheduled for 7:30 PM next Saturday night.
