Seminoles Survive Louisville Saturday Afternoon

The Florida State Seminoles (2-2, 1-1) knocked off Louisville (2-2, 0-1) 35-24 on Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee.

The Seminoles built a 21-0 over the Cardinals in the first quarter and appeared to take control thanks in large part to running back Cam Akers, who ran the ball 29 times for 112 yards and three touchdowns in the win. After the Seminoles lost quarterback James Blackman with a knee injury, Louisville began to rally, taking a 24-21 lead in the early goings of the fourth quarter. The Seminoles were able to orchestrate an answer. however, as backup quarterback Alex Hornibrook hit Tamorrion Terry for a 60 yard touchdown pass with 7:25 to go in the game. Cam Akers ran in his third touchdown with 1:17 to go that clinched the victory.

Florida State finished with 522 offensive yards to Lousiville's 410 yards - the Cardinals quarterback Mark Cunningham went 16-for-27 with 286 yards in the air and two touchdowns, as Lousville just missed out on their first ACC win since 2017. Alex Hornibrook threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns in relief of Blackman, who will have an MRI on his knee on Monday, according to Seminoles head coach Willie Taggert. Ricky Aguayo had a rough day in the kikcing game, missing field goals from 51, 47 and 41 for the Seminoles.

Florida State returns to action next Saturday - kickoff from Tallahassee is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
