The 15th ranked Florida State Seminoles (19-4, 7-3) knocked off Miami (14-7, 4-5) on Wednesday night in Coral Gables.
The Hurricanes played well early and took a 34-31 lead into halftime. In the second half, however, the Seminoles defense stood tall, including holding Miami scoreless for a stretch of six and a half minutes, to take control. During that stretch Florida State scored 13 points of their own while forcing the Hurricanes into five turnovers. Overall Miami was outscored 44-23 in the second half and lost for just the second time in 25 games at home.
Jonathan Isaac and Dwayne Bacon each scored 15 points for Florida State, with Isaac adding seven rebounds. Bruce Brown had 17 points to lead a Miami team that had been hoping to build on their upset win over North Carolina on Saturday.
The Seminoles return to action on Sunday when they host Clemson. Tipoff from Tallahassee is 12:30 PM Sunday afternoon.
