“Josh is bright and innovative and was instrumental in our game planning and play design over the last year,” said Buccaneers Head Coach Todd Bowles. “After interviewing several outstanding candidates throughout this process, it ultimately became clear that our best option was here in our building. We had a lot of success offensively last season and during our conversations, Grizz provided some great ideas on how we can build on that. His familiarity with our offense, our players and the staff will ensure the continuity that is crucial for sustained success.”

Grizzard contributed to Baker Mayfield’s Pro Bowl season, in which the seventh-year quarterback established career highs in passer rating (106.8), completion percentage (71.4), passing touchdowns (41) and passing yards (4,500), landing him among a group of 10 quarterbacks in NFL history with 4,500+ yards and 40+ passing touchdowns in a single season.

Grizzard brings 13 years of coaching experience to his new role, including eight years at the professional level – seven with the Miami Dolphins. During his time with the Dolphins, Grizzard served as a quality control coach (2017-19, 2022-23) and wide receivers coach (2020-21), while the team had a winning record in each of his final four seasons and earned two playoff appearances.

The 2023 Dolphins ranked first in yards per game (401.3), passing yards per game (265.5), and yards per carry (5.1), while ranking second in yards per play (6.5), net yards per pass attempt (8.0), and points scored per game (29.2). During his time as Miami's wide receivers coach, Grizzard helped guide Jaylen Waddle, who established the NFL's then-rookie-reception record in 2021 with 104 receptions for a club-rookie-record 1,015 receiving yards.

Prior to his time with the Dolphins, Grizzard worked as a graduate assistant/quality control coach for Duke University (2013-16) where he worked closely with quarterback Daniel Jones. Grizzard helped the Blue Devils to their best three-year stretch (2013-15) in school history, earning 27 wins an ACC Coastal division title and three consecutive bowl appearances.

Grizzard played football collegiately at Yale (2008-11), playing defensive back, before shifting into a student coaching assistant role in 2012. He is a native of Zebulon, North Carolina.
