The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6) defeated the Carolina Panthers (3-9) 26-23 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Buccaneers tied the Falcons for first place in the NFC South.
This was a wild game at the end - the Buccaneers held a 20-16 lead in the fourth quarter before the Panthers took the lead when Bryce Young hit Adam Thielen for a 25-yard touchdown to give Carolina a 23-20 lead with thirty seconds to go.
The Buccaneers were able to march down and tie the game as time expired when Chase McLaughlin hit a 51-yard field goal. The game went to overtime and the Buccaneers won the toss and had the ball first, but McLaughlin missed a 55-yard field goal attempt that gave the Panthers the ball back.
The Panthers were driving with a chance to win before Anthony Nelson forced a fumble that YaYa Diaby recovered. Chase McLaughlin got another chance to win the game with a field-goal, and did so with a 30-yard shot that secured the wild win for Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers are next in action when they host the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday afternoon. Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 1:00 PM - you can hear the game on 97.9 WXTB-FM - The Mighty 98 Rock.
