The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0) beat the Chicago Bears (0-2) 27-17 Sunday at Raymond James Stadium.
The Bucs received the opening kickoff and marched down the field, scoring a field goal on the game's opening drive. The drive went 11 plays for 77 yards, ending in a Chase McLaughlin 26-yard field goal, giving the Bucs a 3-0 lead over the Bears. Chicago, led by QB Justin Fields, marched down the field and answered with a score of their own, as the signal caller ran it in for a 1-yard TD run, giving the Bears an early 7-3 lead over the Bucs.
The Buccaneers attempted a 40-yard field goal on the first play of the second quarter; the kick was blocked, and the Bears took over with position at midfield, leading 7-3. Fortunately, the Bucs defense stood tall, giving the offense the ball back. Mike Evans had a 70-yard catch, putting Rachaad White in position to score from 4 yards out just a few plays later. The Bucs led 10-7 with 10:53 left in the first half. The Bears relied on Cairo Santos to knock down his 52-yard field goal try, tying the game up at ten with less than two minutes left in the first half of play. Chase McLaughlin of the Buccaneers countered with a field goal make of his own, giving the Bucs a 13-10 lead over the Bears at halftime.
The Buccaneers extended their lead as Shaq Barrett picked off a pass and scored a touchdown, extending the Bucs lead 27-17 over the Bears. The Bucs defense continued to feast late into the fourth quarter as Christian Izien picked off a Justin Fields pass late in the game. The Bucs beat the Bears 27-17.
