VIA TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS COMMUNICATIONS -
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today released tackle Donovan Smith.
Since being drafted by the Buccaneers in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Smith started all 131 games in which he appeared over his eight seasons in Tampa Bay. His 124 regular season starts are the 10th-most in franchise history. Smith was the left tackle for Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl LV championship team and was a part of a unit that ranked first in the NFL in fewest sacks per pass attempt (3.1%) over the past three seasons (2020-22).
“I want to thank Donovan for all that he has done for the Buccaneers on and off the field over the past eight seasons,” said Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht. “He stepped in as our starter at left tackle in 2015 and his durability and dependability at one of the most important positions in football played a significant role in our offensive success during his time here.”
