The Buccaneers moved up one spot in the first round of the 2020 Draft to select Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs, taking him 13th overall Thursday night. For the 21-year-old, it was an electric experience.
"It's just this wave of emotions as soon as you feel your phone start vibrating," Wirfs told TJ Rives and Pat Donovan Thursday night after the pick.
Much has been made of Wirfs' athleticism, performing box jumps out of a pool as a freshman, but he knows what his true strength is.
"I think I maul people," Wirfs said with a laugh. "Coming from the University of Iowa, that's one of the best O-Line schools in the country. We're taught very well, but I know I'm a powerful guy and I come off the line of scrimmage hard, so I'd say [I] maul people."
The guys also got into what he needs to work on for success in the NFL, and laying out the red carpet for his mom at home when they learned the NFL Draft wasn;t going to happen in Las Vegas.
