Within their own division, the Buccaneers are accustomed to facing dual threat running backs, but as defensive coordinator Todd Bowles puts it, on Sunday they will be facing one that can kill you from the outside.
Bowles has the task of putting a game plan together to stop Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson, who will be playing in his first game on Sunday after suffering an ankle injury early in their game in week seven. Johnson, like running backs Panthers Christian McCaffrey & Saints Alvin Kamara, are not only threats when running the football but are also a headache to defend in the passing game.
Bowles met with the media on Thursday, providing some insight into his initial thoughts about not only defending Johnson but also recently acquired running back Kenyan Drake, who like Johnson, can be a nightmare to stop on passing downs.
