Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians has a resume that is well-known for working with talented quarterbacks. He was given the name "quarterback whisperer" by a long-time friend but the name doesn't involve just what happens on the football field. Arians has always insisted that his relationship with any of his quarterbacks has been special. Special enough to think of the quarterbacks as family members. And special enough to ensure the relationships include trust & loyalty.
The Buccaneers on Sunday will host the New York Giants, who early on Tuesday announced they are planning to start rookie quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones will be making his first career start & the move means veteran quarterback Eli Manning will be benched for the second time in his career. In 2017 Manning was benched for one game in favor of Geno Smith.
Arians met with the media on Tuesday, after the team's first practice since winning on Thursday night in Charlotte. Arians was asked about the difficulty involved when the time comes to move on from a quarterback that has accomplished what Manning has in his NFL career. Arians stressed that loyalty to his veteran quarterback would make the change difficult.
