The Ottawa Senators (3-2-0) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (3-1-0) 5-4 on Saturday afternoon in Ottawa.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Lightning rallied with goals from Nikita Kucherov and Nicholas Paul to tie the game 2-2 in the second period. The teams traded the next two goals - with Jake Guentzel picking up his first in a Lightning sweater to tie the game 3-3.
Ottawa then scored the next two goals to take a 5-3 lead early in the third period. Mitchell Chaffee scored to make it 5-4, but that was as close as the Lightning would get. Andrei Vasilevskiy went 23-of-28 in net in the losing effort.
The Lightning now head to Toronto where they will play the Maple Leafs on Monday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Maple Leafs is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Monday night.
