The Tampa Bay Lightning (40-25-7) defeated the Boston Bruins (42-17-5) 3-1 on Wednesday night at Amalie Arena. The Lightning now have points in their past eight games, going 7-0-1 during that stretch.
Mitchell Chaffee got the scoring started for Tampa Bay, before Danton Heinen scored to tie the game 1-1. Brayden Point broke the tie at the 6:50 mark of the second period before the Lightning defense shut down to keep Boston off the board.
Nikita Kucherov scored an empty-netter with twenty-seven seconds to go to make it 3-1. Andrei Vasilevskiy finished the game 23-for-24 to get the win in net.
The Lightning are next in action when they host the New York Islanders on Saturday. Puck drop between the Lightning and Islanders is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Saturday night.
