Flyers Erupt In Third To Beat Lightning

The Philadelphia Flyers (31-22-7) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (32-24-5) 6-2 on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for Tampa Bay.

The Flyers scored first in the first period before Nicholas Paul tied the game 1-1 in the second. That would be the score going into the third before Philadelphia scored the first three goals to make it 4-1. Steven Stamkos scored to pull within 4-2, but the Flyers scored two empty-net goals to make it a 6-2 game.

This game was interrupted by a partial power outage with 13:39 to go in the first period that caused a ten-minute delay. Though play resumed after lights were restored on the ice, it was a while before power was restored to the entire arena.

The Lightning return home for their next five games which begins against Buffalo on Thursday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Sabres is scheduled for 7:00 PM on February 29.
