The Tampa Bay Lightning (2-2-1) defeated the Vancouver Canucks (2-2-0) 4-3 on Thursday night at Amalie Arena.
Nikita Kucherov scored twice for Tampa Bay in the win. His first goal came at the 16:52 mark of the second period to give the Lightning a 3-2 lead. He followed at the 4:42 mark of the third with a power play goal that made it 4-2 and would prove to be the game winner.
Jonas Johansson saved 26 of the 29 shots he faced to pic up the win in net.
The Lightning remain at home and host the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second game of a five-game homestand on Saturday night. Puck drop between Tampa Bay and Toronto is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Amalie Arena on Saturday night.
