The New York Rangers (46-21-11) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (45-27-6) 6-3 on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.
After falling behind 3-0, the Lightning got goals from Alex Killorn in the first and Darren Raddysh in the second to pull within 3-2. For Raddysh, it was his first NHL goal.
After the Rangers scored again, Brandon Hagel answered to make it 4-3 going into the third period. New York pulled away with two goals in the third period to make it a 6-3 final.
Andrei Vasilevskiy allowed all six goals, making 31 saves in the losing effort.
The Lightning now play the Islanders in the second game of a back-to-back at the UBS Arena on Thursday night. Puck drop Thursday is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
