The Las Vegas Golden Knights (39-20-6) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (38-21-6) 4-3 in overtime on Thursday afternoon at Amalie Arena. For the Lightning, it was their six loss in the last seven games.
Tied 1-1 going into the third period, the Golden Knights got two goals in the first six minutes of the frame to build a 3-1 lead. The Lightning answered with a goal from Nikita Kucherov with 2:07 to go - then Brayden Point tied the game with a power play goal with twenty-eight seconds remaining
Alec Martinez won the game for the Golden Knights with a goal at the 3:09 mark of overtime. Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 17 saves on the 21 shots he faced in the game.
The Lightning continue a four-game homestand when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night. Tipoff on Saturday is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Amalie Arena.
