The Minnesota Wild (22-13-2) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (24-12-1) 5-1 on Wednesday night in St. Paul. The loss ended Tampa Bay's winning streak at four games.
Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was a late scratch due to an illness, so backup goalie Brian Elliott got the start in net. He made 28 saves on the night in the losing effort.
Brayden Point scored the Lightning's only goal on the power play in the second period.
The Lightning next head to Winnipeg where they will play the Jets on Friday night. Puck drop from Manitoba is scheduled for 8:00 PM on Sunday night.
