(via Tampa Bay Lightning Communications) - The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Lucas Edmonds to a three-year, two-way contract vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Edmonds, 21, was Tampa Bay’s third round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft, the Lightning moving picks Nos. 103 and 166 to Los Angeles in exchange for the 86th overall pick to take the right-shot winger.
Edmonds played in Sweden from 2016-21 before coming to Canada and joining Kingston of the Ontario Hockey League for the 2021-22 season. He led the Frontenacs and finished third in the OHL for scoring with 113 points in 68 games, earning him the Jim Mahon Memorial Trophy as the top-scoring right winger in the league. Edmonds’ 79 assists topped the OHL, and he netted 34 goals, tied for third-most on the Frontenacs. In Kingston’s 11 playoff games, Edmonds recorded 11 points on six goals and five assists.
Edmonds was born in North Bay, Ontario and is also a Swedish national.
