The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-0 on Monday night to win game one of the best-of-seven first round playoff series.
The Maple Leafs set the tone early - after Kyle Clifford was called for a major early in the period, the Lightning were unable to score on the five minute power play. Jake Muzzin then scored the only goal in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.
Toronto took control in the second with a power play goal from Auston Matthews, a shorthanded goal from David Kamph and an even-strength goal from Mitchell Manor. Auston Matthews added his second goal of the game in the third to take the 5-0 win.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves in net for the Lightning, while Jack Campbell went 23-for-23 in net for Toronto to pick up the win.
The Lightning will look to bounce back in Game Two of the best-of-seven series on Wednesday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM in Toronto - pregame coverage begins at 6:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
