The Tampa Bay Lightning (49-22-8) defeated the Florida Panthers (57-15-6) 8-4 on Sunday night in Sunrise.
The Lightning took a 3-1 lead in the first period before the Panthers rallied to tie the game 3-3. The Lightning were able to break the game open, scoring two goals in the second period and three in the third en route to an 8-4 win.
Tampa Bay got two goals and five points from Nikita Kucherov, two goals from Steven Stamkos, two goals from Nick Paul, and goals from Brayden Point and Cal Foote in the offensive explosion.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 34 saves on 38 shots faced to pick up the win in net.
The Lightning have a historic day on Monday as they visit the White House for the first time to honor the 2020 and 2021 Stanley Cup Championship teams. They will return to the ice on Tuesday night for the final home game of the regular season when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets. Puck drop on Tuesday at Amalie Arena is scheduled for 7:00 PM - pregame coverage begins at 6:00 PM on News Radio WFLA.
