The Tampa Bay Lightning (41-18-6) defeated the New York Islanders (28-27-9) 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in Elmont, New York. With the win the Bolts take over second place in the Atlantic Division.
After Brock Nelson gave the Islanders the lead in the first period, Tampa Bay answered in the second period with a power play goal from Victor Hedman at the 1:10 mark, and a goal from Alex Killorn at the 9:47 mark.
The Bolts added goals from Ross Colton and Mikhail Sergachev in the third period to come away with a 4-1 win.
Andrei Vasilevskiy went 23-for-24 in net in the win for the Lightning. Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin went 18-for-20 in net before leaving the game after the second period.
The Lightning now return home for a four game homestand that begins against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. Puck trop between Tampa Bay and Carolina is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Amalie Arena - pregame coverage begins at 6:00 PM on News Radio WFLA.
