The Boston Bruins (40-19-5) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (39-18-6) 3-2 on Thursday night in Boston. It was Tampa Bay's third straight loss and saw Boston move into third place in the Atlantic Division.
The Bruins got all their offense from David Pastrnak, who had a hat trick. After Brandon Hagel scored his first goal as a Lightning - shorthanded - in the second, Pastrnak answered just under three minutes later to tie the game 1-1.
Then Steven Stamkos scored early in the third to give Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead, but Pastrnak answered with goals at the 8:17 mark and 15:50 mark to doom Tampa Bay.
Andrei Vasilevskiy took the loss, going 36-for-39 in net. Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman went 22-for-24 in net to pick up the win for Boston.
The Lightning will next have an opportunity to snap their skid in Detroit on Saturday afternoon. Puck drop Saturday is scheduled for 12:30 PM - with pregame coverage beginning at high noon - on News Radio WFLA.
