The Tampa Bay Lightning (36-12-6) defeated the Detroit Red Wings (24-25-6) 3-1 on Friday night at Amalie Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Brayden Point got the scoring started in the second period with a power play goal at the 6:43 mark. The Red Wings tied the game later in the period with a goal from Rabby Fabbri.
In the third period Mikhail Sergachev scored what would be the game winning goal at the 10:21 mark. Steven Stamkos added an empty net goal with two seconds to go in the game and the Lightning secured the 3-1 victory.
Brian Elliott got the start in net in the second game of a back-to-back, and had 22 saves in the winning effort. Alex Nedeljkovic took the loss for Detroit, going 35-for-37 in net.
The Lightning now go on the road for a six game road trip that begins in Chicago on Sunday night. Puck drop between the LIghtning and Blackhawks is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Sunday evening - pregame coverage begins at 6:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
