Lightning Bounce Back With Win Over Coyotes

The Tampa Bay Lightning (31-11-6) defeated the Arizona Coyotes (12-32-4) 4-3 on Friday night in Glendale, Arizona.

The Lightning got goals from Brayden Point and Corey Perry in the first, en route to taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

That would be the score heading into the third period, when Steven Stamkos scored twice. After each goal Arizona had an answer, but after the Coyotes made it 4-3 with a goal from Nick Schmaltz with 1:38 to go in the game, the Lightning would shut the door the rest of the way to pick up the win.

Brian Elliott got the start in net in the second game of a back-to-back, and saved 16 of the 19 shots he faced. Karel Vejmelka went 28-for-32 in net for Arizona in the losing effort.

The Lightning remain on the road for the final makeup game in what was intended to be the Olympic break when they head to New Jersey on Tuesday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Devils is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday - pregame coverage begins at 6:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
