The Colorado Avalanche (33-8-4) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (30-11-6) 3-2 on Thursday night in Denver. For Colorado, it extends a point streak 18 games.
The Lightning had a slow start that Colorado take a 2-0 lead early in the first period. The Lightning got a first period goal from Nikita Kucherov in the first to make it 2-1, and a second period goal from Brayden Point to make it 3-2, but that would be all the offense the Bolts would muster in the losing effort.
Darcy Kuemper went 36-for-38 in net to earn the win for the Avalanche. Andrei Vasilevsky made 44 saves - on 47 shots against - and took the loss.
The Lightning now head to Arizona and will play the Coyotes on Friday night. Puck drop from Phoenix is scheduled for 9:30 PM - pregame coverage begins at 9:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
