Lightning Knock Off Senators

The Tampa Bay Lightning (19-6-4) defeated the Ottawa Senators (9-17-1) 2-1 on Thursday night at Amalie Arena.

Ottawa scored first in the game when Thomas Chabot scored late in the first period to give the Senators a 1-0 lead. Alex Killorn scored early in the second, then Victor Hedman scored on the power play later in the frame, to give the Lightning the only goals they would need in the win. Hedman finished with a goal and an assist on the night.

Andrei Vasilevskiy saved 25 shots on 26 attempts, and set an NHL record by picking up his 63rd victory in the 2021 calendar year.

The Lightning now travel west for the final three games before Christmas. Their western swing begins on Saturday night in Colorado against the Avalanche. Puck drop from Denver is scheduled for 9:00 PM - pregame coverage begins at 8:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
