Joseph Squeezes One Past Quick In OT As Bolts Beat Kings 3-2

Mathieu Joseph scored with 1:35 left in overtime & Andrei Vasilevskiy made 28 saves as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 on Tuesday night at Amalie Arena.

After a wild and crazy overtime period, Joseph came down the right wing & squeezed one past Kings netminder Jonathan Quick to give the Lightning the win.

Victor Hedman & Taylor Raddysh also scored for Tampa Bay.

Earlier in the extra frame, Los Angeles captain Anze Kopitar had a breakaway but was stopped by an incredible pad save by Vasilevskiy.

Los Angeles got on the board first courtesy of a Drew Doughty power play goal at the 9:06 mark of the opening period.

Just 24 seconds after a hooking penalty on Lightning captain Steven Stamkos, the Kings star defenseman stepped into a shot and rifled one past Vasilevskiy to put the visitors up 1-0.

Not to be outdone by his fellow Norris Trophy winner, Hedman wanted in on the scoring action as well.

During a delayed call on L.A., Hedman took a pass from Stamkos and one-timed a slapper over the glove of Quick to tie the score at one apiece at 18:01.

Unfortunately for the Lightning, it didn't take very long for the Kings to reclaim the lead.

30 seconds into the 2nd period, a point shot from Matt Roy deflected off the stick of Bolts forward Ross Colton, then off the body of Kings winger Victor Arvidsson & past Vasilevskiy to put L.A. up 2-1.

The majority of the middle stanza was pretty even, until the Lightning found the equalizer at 14:19.

Jan Rutta's shot from the point was deflected by Raddysh in front to tie the score at 2-2. That was Raddysh's 4th goal in his last 6 games.

Stamkos, looking for point #900, had a breakaway early in the 3rd, but Quick stood tall and made the save to keep the game tied.

Quick made 27 saves in defeat for Los Angeles.
