Lightning Win First Ever Matchup With Seattle Kraken

The Tampa Bay Lightning (12-4-3) shut out the Seattle Kraken (6-13-1) 3-0 on Friday night at Amalie Arena.

Andrei Vasilevskiy saved seventeen shots on net to earn his second shutout in a row, following the Lightning's 4-0 win over Philadelphia on Tuesday night. The win also gave Vasilevskiy 200 regular season wins in his career.

The Bolts got on the board early in the first period, when Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored his first goal of the season 2:52 into the first. Ross Colton added a goal thirty-one seconds into the second period to make it 2-0, before Steven Stamkos scored at the 11:32 mark of the third period to put this game away for the Lightning.

It was an emotional night for many, as Yanni Gourde played his first game against the Lightning since being acquired by the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft this offseason. In addition to being presented a Stanley Cup ring before the game, he was honored with a video in-game as the fans and players remembered his contributions to the two Stanley Cup championships.

The Lightning now head on the road for the next two games, beginning in Minnesota against the Wild on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday - pregame coverage begins at 1:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
