(via Tampa Bay Lightning Communications) - The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Cal Foote to a two-year, one-way contract worth $850,000 AAV, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.

Foote, 22, played in 35 games in his first NHL season with the Lightning, posting one goal and three points to go along with a +9 rating and 29 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-4, 227-pound defenseman made his NHL debut in the Lightning’s season opening game this past season against the Chicago Blackhawks on January 13. Foote netted his first career NHL goal on January 30 against the Nashville Predators. He also skated in six games with the Syracuse Crunch in 2020-21, recording a goal and four points.

The Denver, Colorado native has played in 150 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over the past four seasons, collecting 18 goals and 64 points to go along with a +12 rating and 99 penalty minutes. Foote set career AHL highs for games played (76), goals (10) and points (31) during the 2018-19 season with Syracuse.

Foote was originally drafted by the Bolts in the first round, 14th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft.
