The Tampa Bay Lightning have eliminated the Carolina Hurricanes from the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Lightning won the best of seven series 4-1 by virtue of a 2-0 shutout win on Tuesday night.
The Lightning got all the offense they would need on the power play in the second period, when Brayden Point scored at the 4:06 mark. Tampa Bay added a huge insurance goal in the third period when Ross Colton scored to make it 2-0.
From there, Andrei Vasilevskiy made the saves to clinch not just the victory, but also the shutout. All told he went 29-for-29 in net, and now has shutouts to close out three consecutive playoff series dating back to the 2019-2020 Stanley Cup Finals.
